Kia has added two new hybrid variants to its Carnival line-up in Australia with the most-affordable version available for under $60,000.
- 2025 Kia Carnival pricing and specifications
- Hybrid now available in S and Sport+ variants, joining GT-Line
- Price rise for carryover grades
- Priced from $50,570 before on-road costs
The 2025 Kia Carnival people mover line-up has expanded in Australia with two additional hybrid variants.
Kia has confirmed entry-level S and mid-spec Sport+ hybrid grades have been added to the updated Carnival, which is marketed as a Model Year 2026 (MY26) vehicle.
The two variants join the existing Carnival GT-Line hybrid, which arrived in Australia 12 months ago as part of a range-wide mid-life update, featuring a revised look, new technologies, and additional safety features.
Priced from $56,100 before on-road costs, the Carnival S hybrid is $5530 dearer than the petrol V6 and $3300 more than the four-cylinder diesel, with the same differences for the Sport+ and GT-Line hybrids.
The mid-spec Carnival Sport+ hybrid costs $68,330, while the GT-Line hybrid has increased $270 to $76,630, with all carryover variants receiving the same price increase for the new model year.
A Kia Australia spokesperson confirmed there are no specification differences between Model Year 2025 and Model Year 2026 Carnivals beyond the addition of the S and Sport+ hybrid variants.
As such, standard equipment for the S and Sport+ hybrids remains identical to petrol and diesel versions, detailed below.
The Kia Carnival hybrid features a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine matched to an electric motor and a six-speed automatic transmission, for a 180kW/366Nm total system output.
Combined fuel consumption is rated at 5.8 litres per 100 kilometres, down from 6.5L/100km for the diesel and 9.6L/100km for the petrol V6.
Kia Australia product planning boss Roland Rivero said it will "limit" dealers on ordering petrol V6 cars, with customers pushed towards diesel and hybrid instead.
"We haven't been getting much stock of V6 on the Carnival, for example. Most of that V6 supply is actually going to the United States, to North America. I don't know if it's going to continue that way with the tariffs," Rivero added.
"We've been very limited, and our dealers are very dynamic. They're able to work with what you give them.
"And Carnival up to now has been largely diesel, probably 90-plus per cent diesel, with very little V6 petrol."
