Mazda Australia claims it is offering customers "even better value" after making its CX-90 flagship SUV up to $7800 more affordable than before.
Family Cars
The price of the 2025 Mazda CX-90 seven-seat family SUV has been slashed in Australia to bring it closer to the CX-70, its five-seat identical twin.
Mazda Australia has confirmed it has cut the price of its flagship CX-90 between $6000 and $7800 to offer its customers "even better value", with the entry-level G50e Touring now available from $68,800 before on-road costs.
"As our flagship large SUV, Mazda CX-90 is highly specified and comprehensively equipped," a Mazda Australia spokesperson said.
"Pricing has been adjusted to offer customers even better value on this model."
The CX-90 line-up now tops out at $95,570 for the G50e Azami with the optional $5000 six-seat Takumi or SP option packages – down from a high of $100,370, with the cost of the option packs also reduced by $1500 in recent months.
There are no specification changes for the CX-90 line-up in Australia, which launched in Australia in mid-2023 at $73,800 – $26,200 more than the most-affordable CX-9 it replaced, or $5100 more than a similarly-equipped CX-9 GT AWD.
Mazda has since launched the smaller CX-80 six- or seven-seat SUV in Australia which starts from $54,950 before on-road costs for the G40e Pure entry-level model – almost $14,000 less than the cheapest CX-90 – along with the CX-70, a five-seat version of the CX-90.
While the CX-70 is priced from $75,970, it is only available in GT and Azami variants, which are now between $1830 and $3100 more affordable than an equivalent CX-90 with five seats instead of seven.
Previously, the cost difference between a CX-70 and CX-90 was as high as $11,660 in top-of-the-range G50e Azami trim, as the CX-90 incurred a higher amount of luxury car tax (LCT) than the CX-70 before its recent price cut.
All CX-90 variants continue to feature a 253kW/500Nm 3.3-litre turbocharged inline-six 'G50e' petrol or 187kW/550Nm 'D50e' diesel, matched to a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and an eight-speed multi-clutch automatic transmission.
The Mazda Australia spokesperson said the brand had no updates to share on local timing for the CX-90 Plug-In Hybrid, or its five-seat CX-70 PHEV twin, with an Australian launch date still to be announced.
VFACTS new-car sales data shows 190 examples of the Mazda CX-90 were delivered in Australia in the first three months of 2025, down 6.4 per cent from the same time in 2024 and equating to an average of 63 deliveries per month.
Meanwhile, the related Mazda CX-80 has recorded 1283 sales to the end of March, along with 1584 deliveries for the five-seat CX-60 and 83 for the CX-70, for a total of 3140 across Mazda's 'Large Platform' line-up.
