The Triton was Australia's third-best-selling 4x4 ute last month, as Mitsubishi continues to offer significant discounts across the range.
The Mitsubishi Triton beat the Isuzu D-Max in four-wheel-drive ute deliveries last month, with a 34 per cent sales increase amid sharp discounts and an expanded range of cab-chassis grades.
However, better sales of the D-Max 4x2 (405) compared to the Triton 4x2 (258) saw the Isuzu surpass the Mitsubishi in total sales, at 1798 and 1665, respectively.
A full range of Triton grades, including cab-chassis and manual versions, is now available in Australia following a staggered roll-out since 4x4 dual-cab pick-up variants arrived in early 2024.
"Triton's sales growth is reflective of what customers are seeking in the competitive 4x4 Light Commercial segment – reliability, capability, and adventure. Competitive price positioning, expansive model range and warranty offering all play a role in the nameplate's continued success," a Mitsubishi Motors Australia spokesperson said.
"MMAL's recent addition of cab chassis models to the lineup offers more choice and versatility for customers and accounted for 24.5 per cent of new 4x4 Triton registrations in January. Customers favoured the GLX-R pick-up variant last month, which made up 17.8 per cent."
Mitsubishi Australia also continues to offer discounts across the Triton range, led by the range-topping GSR dual-cab pick-up.
Until March 31, 2026, unless extended, the Triton GSR is available from $61,990 drive-away – or $61,090 for ABN holders – down from its usual $64,590 before on-road costs, equating to a saving of nearly $10,000 when on-road costs are included.
For $65,990 drive-away, the GSR is also available with dealer-fitted accessories, including a manual tonneau roller cover – with an electric cover adding $1000 – a tow bar kit, a trailer brake controller, a dust and water defence kit for its tub, a black grille emblem, and a cargo tie down kit.
Combined, these accessories usually retail for $7225 at Mitsubishi dealerships, representing a further saving of around $3225 in addition to the reduced cost of the vehicle.
The GSR deals compare to $69,990 drive-away for the Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain – down from $73,000 before on-road costs – without any dealer-fitted accessories.
The GSR Special Edition, which replaces the GSR's sailplane with a sports bar and adds a black grille, is also available for $61,490 drive-away, or $61,090 for business customers (without accessories).
Other drive-away deals include the GLX 4x2 dual-cab pick-up at $39,140, GLX 4x4 dual-cab pick-up at $46,490, GLX+ 4x4 dual-cab pick-up at $48,740, GLX-R 4x4 dual-cab pick-up at $52,240, and GLS 4x4 dual-cab pick-up at $56,990.
The brand also recently introduced two accessory packs for the Triton – the GLX-R Special Edition with Tradie Accessory Pack and the GSR Special Edition with Touring Accessory Pack – with customer deliveries due this month.
An updated Mitsubishi Triton is expected to launch in Australia by the middle of this year, potentially with ride comfort improvements, including Yamaha Performance Dampers now available for Japanese examples.
All grades of the current-generation 'MV' Mitsubishi Triton, launched in 2024, feature a 150kW/470Nm 2.4-litre bi-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine matched to a six-speed automatic transmission.
Following its 2024 launch, Mitsubishi addressed customer and media criticism by reducing the sensitivity of its driver monitoring camera.
The company also launched a reduced payload option for the GLS and GSR to make them eligible for novated lease purchases, a move which Kia has mirrored with its Tasman ute.
