A wildly-styled rival to the Kia EV4 and MG4 SUVs could be the first ‘Omoda’-branded SUV from Chery in Australian showrooms after its global on-sale in 2026.

The Chery Omoda 3 has been unveiled with a dramatically styled Kia EV4 and MG4 rival likely to spearhead Omoda’s unique identity as a stand-alone brand.
While the Omoda 3 has not been officially confirmed for local showrooms, the show car was revealed in China ahead of further details due in October 2025, with global sales planned to start in 2026.
This includes the UK – a right-hand drive country like Australia – according to British publication Autocar, but the Omoda 3 is yet to be locked in for the local line-up.
Chery Australia could not confirm any plans to sell the Omoda 3 in Australia when contacted by Drive but has said it is considering many new "international models" across its brands for local showrooms.
With the Omoda brand separated, the Chery Omoda 5 will be rebranded as a Chery 5 for Australia – with its battery-electric equivalent currently known as the ‘Omoda E5’ also set to change – seeing it remain in Chery dealers.
The Omoda 3 uses the same T1X platform underpinning a host of vehicles from Chery and its many sub-brands, including the Jaecoo J7 SUV and the Tiggo line-up of Chery SUVs sold in Australia.
It will also be used on the larger Omoda 7 and Omoda 9 large SUVs – referred to as C7 and C9 in China, which suggests the Omoda 3 could be badged ‘C3’ in some countries.
The 3 also shares its platform with the current Omoda 5 but Autocar says the next-generation 5 will grow in size, which is why the Omoda 3 is 46mm longer at 4420mm despite its name positioning it below the 5.
Powertrain details were not announced, but the Omoda 3 was confirmed as offering petrol, hybrid and battery-electric drivetrains.
While the interior has not been revealed, the youth-oriented Omoda 3 enables gaming on its centre touchscreen via wireless controllers and will have slots for portable gaming devices.
The Omoda Jaecoo tie-up also saw the Omoda C5, Omoda C7 and Jaecoo J5 hybrid SUVs shown at the 2025 Shanghai motor show.
