Tesla has added an indicator stalk retrofit to its online store in Australia, offering the accessory to the owners of thousands of 2024 and 2025 Model 3 electric sedans.

The indicator stalk retrofit is being offered in Australia for $850, which includes installation at a Tesla service centre.

An indicator stalk returned to new examples of the Model 3 in Australia last month, two years after it was controversially deleted with the launch of a facelifted model.

The related Model Y SUV kept its indicator stalk when an update with similar revisions to the Model 3 launched at the start of 2025.

It is now available for Australian-market 2024 and 2025 Model 3s built before the indicator stalk was re-added to the electric sedan.

The retrofit involves the addition of a "traditional turn signal stalk", along with a new steering wheel and steering wheel control module.

To purchase the accessory, owners must select 'Request Service' in their Tesla app, choosing 'Upgrades and Accessories' as the category and 'Accessory Installation' as the sub-category.

In the 'Details' section, they can select the indicator stalk retrofit, and enter their address to find their closest Tesla service centre and book an appointment.

The brand said owners should allow a minimum of three days for the accessory to be shipped to a service centre.

In China, the option has been available since August 2025 for 2499 yuan ($AU540), while it is also available in the United States for $US595 ($AU915), among other markets.

Other controls, including the wipers, headlights and gear selection, remain accessible through the vehicle's central touchscreen.
