Formula One enters a new era in 2026, with shorter and narrower cars as part of sweeping regulation changes that represent the biggest reset in more than a decade.

The 1.6-litre turbocharged V6 hybrid power unit remains at the heart of the 2026 F1 cars, but the electric motor's output has been uprated from 120kW to 350kW – and the petrol engine detuned from about 600kW to 350kW – for a 50:50 split.

The list of manufacturers supplying the engines has also seen a reshuffle.

Audi has joined the grid, Ford is partnering with Red Bull’s in-house project, and Renault has departed, leaving Ferrari, Mercedes, Honda, Red Bull Powertrains and Audi as the five suppliers powering the next generation of Formula 1.

Here’s every team on the 2026 grid and the engine behind them.

McLaren will continue running Mercedes-AMG power units through to 2030, having renewed a partnership that resumed in 2021 and previously spanned a highly successful era from 1995 to 2014.

Mercedes-AMG develops and runs its own 'power unit', while supplying it to several teams.

The manufacturer has been involved in engine supply since 1994, initially in partnership with British engineering company Ilmor, before the operation was rebranded as Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains in 2005.

The German car giant went on to acquire the Brawn GP team in 2010, and re-enter Formula One with a Mercedes factory team powered by its engines.

The 2026 season marks the first year of a partnership between Red Bull and Ford.

Ford will provide technical expertise in battery and electric motor technology to support Red Bull's engine division, Red Bull Powertrains – which has operated since 2022, created from its previous engine deal with Honda – under the new regulations.

The Italian outfit will also supply customer engines to Haas and new entrant Cadillac.

From 2021 to 2025, the team ran Mercedes-AMG power units, but in 2026, the Silverstone-based team will begin a new partnership with Honda, which has developed a bespoke engine under the new regulations.

Honda is not expected to supply any other teams, with its agreement with Aston Martin understood to cover 2026 and the seasons beyond.

It has entered a technical partnership with Toyota Gazoo Racing, but the Japanese brand does not supply engines.
