2026 Toyota Corolla price and specs: Hybrid hatch and sedan score various tweaks

The Toyota Corolla remains Australia's best-selling small car going into 2026, with the brand recently applying specification changes across the hatch and sedan range.

Priced from $32,110 before on-road costs for the Ascent Sport hybrid hatch, the Corolla line-up tops out at $39,100 for the ZR hybrid hatch, following the recent discontinuation of the dearer ZR hybrid sedan.

The specification discrepancies between the Corolla hatch and Corolla sedan have widened in the 2026 range, with a newly standard 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster for all sedan grades.

In the hatch range, it's limited to the ZR, with the Ascent Sport and SX featuring a 7-inch instrument cluster, and gloss black side mirror caps were recently added to the hatch – but not the sedan.

The Corolla sedan also has 'high-grade' bi-LED headlights across the range, while the Ascent Sport and SX hatches have 'low-grade' units, and two USB-C charging ports, instead of one in the hatch.

The hatch also gets power-folding mirrors, and front and rear parking sensors, as standard, yet these features are not offered in any sedan.

Blind-spot monitoring is standard on the Ascent Sport hatch, but included in the $1000 Convenience Pack for the sedan, while the Ascent Sport sedan has satellite navigation, but it is limited to the SX and ZR hatches.

Exterior paint colours also differ between the hatch and sedan, except for Glacier White, Frosted White, Silver Pearl and Eclipse Black, which are shared across the body styles.

Combined fuel consumption for the Corolla hatch and sedan is rated at 4.0 litres per 100 kilometres.

Toyota stopped taking orders for the Corolla ZR hybrid sedan in Australia 12 months ago after two years on sale, amid slow sales.

The Corolla was Australia's best-selling small car in 2025, with 18,968 examples reported as sold, though it was down 21 per cent compared to the previous year.
