2024-2025 Skoda Kodiaq recalled in Australia over potential airbag issue

Skoda Australia has recalled 696 examples of its 2024 to 2025 Skoda Kodiaq, citing a potential fault with the SUV's seat frame damaging the side airbags.

The affected vehicles are stamped 2024 to 2025 models, but may have been sold at a later date.

The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: "Due to a manufacturing defect, the inner frame edge of the front seats may have been produced with improperly finished surfaces.

"As a result, the frame edge could damage the side airbags during deployment.

"In the event of an accident the airbag not deploying as intended may result in insufficient protection, increasing the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants."

A full list of vehicle identification numbers for the 696 vehicles involved in the recall can be found here.

Skoda Australia said owners of affected vehicles will be contacted in writing, asking them to schedule an appointment with their dealership to have the vehicle repaired, free of charge.
