2026 Mitsubishi Outlander Black Edition FWD.

An updated 2026 Mitsubishi Outlander has been detailed for Australia, nearly 12 months after a mid-life facelift for the family SUV arrived in local showrooms.

New to the Model Year 2026 (MY26) Outlander range is a front-wheel-drive Black Edition grade, which replaces the all-wheel-drive LS Black Edition launched in the outgoing MY25 range earlier this year.

Priced from $45,490 before on-road costs, the Outlander Black Edition FWD costs $2500 less than the outgoing LS Black Edition AWD, while gaining larger 20-inch alloy wheels, instead of 18 inches.

It carries a $1450 premium over the Outlander LS front-wheel-drive seven-seat variant it is based on.

Compared with the Outlander LS, the Black Edition also adds darkened exterior trim, gloss-black B- and C-pillars, black headlining, black suede upholstery with synthetic leather seat bolsters, and heated front seats.

However, it reverts to chrome trim for the front grille and side window surrounds, but gains a black grille and Mitsubishi emblems – instead of the black surrounds, and chrome grille and Mitsubishi emblems, of the outgoing LS Black Edition.

Premium paint is included in the cost of the Black Edition, available in White Diamond, Black Diamond, Red Diamond or Graphite Grey.

Combined fuel consumption and CO2 emissions for the Black Edition FWD are rated at 7.7L/100km and 174g/km, respectively, instead of 8.1L/100km and 185g/km for the outgoing AWD version.

Meanwhile, the range-topping Exceed Tourer AWD is now available to order in Red Diamond with a black roof, joining Black Diamond with a silver roof, and White Diamond, Graphite Grey or Moonstone Grey with a black roof.

The non-hybrid 2026 Mitsubishi Outlander range starts from $39,990 for the entry-level ES front-wheel-drive five-seat, and rises to $58,740 for the Exceed Tourer all-wheel-drive five-seat.

A seven-seat capacity is offered at an extra cost for the ES FWD, or as standard for the LS FWD and AWD, Black Edition FWD, and Aspire FWD and AWD.

Exceed and Exceed Tourer grades revert to a five-seat layout, with standard all-wheel drive.

A 135kW/244Nm 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine continues to power the Mitsubishi Outlander range in Australia, matched with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) automatic.

The 2026 Mitsubishi Outlander will arrive in Australian showrooms in June.
